New Orleans - Day One!

We're here in the "Big Easy!"  Arrived late afternoon at the Avenue Plaza Resort in the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue, with its famous streetcar line, which we took to Bourbon Street to find a good place to eat.  You have to experience Bourbon Street firsthand.  I will post pictures every day or two. This is one of the first sites we encountered.
Based on a recommendation of someone  staying at the resort, we went in search of Coop's Place on Decatur Street near the world famous Cafe De Monde.
Coop's Place is a very small place filled with charm as you can see from the sign posted inside.
The food was delicious!  I had the crab stuffed ravioli with bronzed scallops. OMG!  This $11.95 meal was to die for!  The price was too.  I would put it right up there with a four star restaurant.
Jim had Coop's Plate, which was fried chicken, red beans and rice, Jambalaya, and their renowned gumbo.  It was wonderful!  I samples the gumbo and Jambalaya and they were so good!
On our walk back to the streetcar stop we encountered this street band that was great!  We got there just as they were starting and within minutes they had attracted a huge crowd.
A few  minutes after we boarded the streetcar, it poured rain.  It is hot and dry here, so the rain was definitely welcomed.  We are excited to be here .  I will post again in the next day or two!
